Living Word Lutheran High School senior Andrew Komurka has been selected as a National Merit Finalist for 2010 by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Andrew is the son of Van and Paula Komurka of West Bend. They are members of St. John’s Lutheran in West Bend.
More than 1.5 million juniors enter the 2010 National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (SAT/NMSQT), which served as the initial screen of program entrants. Approximately 15,000 students (or less than 1 per cent) across the country qualify as finalists based on their scores, skills, accomplishments and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The National Merit Finalist distinction allows Komurka to continue in competition to earn Merit Scholar title and qualify for future scholarship awards.
“Andrew has distinguished himself and glorified God by using his abilities in academic achievement, leadership in school activities, and in community involvement. We congratulate Andrew, his parents, and his teachers for achieving this tremendous honor of being named a National Merit Finalist. To God be the glory,” commented LWLHS Executive Director, Dr. Cary Stelmachowicz
