The Living Word Lutheran football team jumped out to an early lead and never trailed in an 18-13 victory over defending conference champions, Brookfield Academy. The Living Word defense came out and set the tone for the game in forcing a quick three and out and allowing only 38 first half yards. The Timberwolf offense led by Ben Rennicke marched down the field for the first score of the game on an eight minute, 75-yard drive. After a Ryan Hauser interception, the Wolves again marched down the field before Ben Rennicke broke through the line for a 40 yard touchdown run. The T-Wolves headed into halftime with a 12-0 lead. Both teams struggled through turnovers in the second half, each leaving opportunities open. However, midway through the third Ben Rennicke found Kellen Batiansila on a 22-yard touchdown strike to put Living Word up 18-0. The Blue Knights didn't go quietly though, fighting back with a touchdown run at the end of the third and midway through the fourth on runs of 1 & 3 by quarterback Zack Kolasinski. The defense held on the final drive of the game by the Blue Knights and the offense took a knee to seal the victory. The Timberwolves continue conference play this Friday at Whitefish Bay High School against Dominican.
