T-WOLF RUNNERS CONQUER BERTHA

BOYS

The team from St. Lawrence is known as the Hilltoppers for a reason. Last Saturday the Boys wolf pack bested anything they threw at us, including their not-so-secret weapon – Big Bertha. Seemingly unending, this hill appears just before the end of the race and separates the men from the boys. Our men used it to their advantage.  Seniors David Rutkowski (7th – 18:28) and Jon Buettner (29th – 19:31) continue to anchor the team. Zach Ziemann (38th – 19:50) is beginning to feel the heat from freshman Caleb Aschebrook (43rd – 20:06) who moved up to 4th man and left Johann Hinck (49th – 20:18) motivated to retake his spot. Matt Rosenheimer (87 – 21:42) continues to improve and has his eyes on the 5th spot. Meanwhile in the JV race Garrett Stremski set another personal record on a very difficult course. The team’s next race is Saturday, October 2nd at our rival Lake Country Lutheran.

GIRLS
The Living Word Lutheran High School Girls Cross Country also showed they are “hilltoppers” too. Senior Taylor Brown earns the “top hilltopper” spot as she passed a total of 15 girls while running Bertha. Brown (66 – 19:01) will soon be on the heels of the young runners as she continually gets faster.  The team was led by Becca Gosselin (12th – 16:27) with Stephanie Rutkowski (21st – 17:05), Lauren Weiss (25th – 17:23), and Katie Ziemann (45th – 17:54) following not far behind. JV Taylor Lorenz’s battle with a runner ended when Taylor conquered Bertha and the girl in front of her was vanquished.  The team’s next race is Saturday, October 2nd at our rival Lake Country Lutheran.
