The Timberwolf football team had plenty to smile about Saturday in a 36-13 win over St. Johns Military Academy. The T-Wolf offense put together over 500 yards of offense including over 300 on the ground in another complete team effort.
Living Word led at half 17-7, but gave up a 75 yard touchdown pass to Lancer's receiver Kevin Mays to bring the score to 17-13. However, the T-Wolves responded by taking advantage of opportunities and created a quick swing of events. Within a 12-second stretch the T-Wolves snapped off a 69-yard touchdown run by Freshman Cam Werner; recovered a fumble on the first play from scrimmage following the kickoff; and punched in a 4-yd run by Andrew Bolwerk to put the score at 30-13.
Senior Andrew Bolwerk had a big day setting a school record 90-yard touchdown run on the way to 108 yards rushing and 46 receiving. Freshman Cameron Werner added 122 yards on the ground including the 69-yd TD run. Junior quarterback Ben Rennicke was 13-21 for 156 yards and a touchdown and an interception.
Finally, the Timberwolves achieved the first of their season goals in qualifying for the division 7 state football playoffs. The opportunity will be the school's first in its young history. Coach Dave Miskimen states, "I'm really proud of our kids thus far. This is a great opportunity for our school!"
