Social Sciences Department

The Social Sciences Department at Living Word is dedicated to help students develop an understanding and an appreciation for history and to allow students to better realize how tightly knit history is to the present. In order for students to fully comprehend such learning bridges students must complete four credits in the area of Social Sciences.

The Social Sciences Department is designed to:

Develop opinions and hypothetical outcomes based upon our countries decisions and how to better our future as well as maintain our values.
Become informed individuals in order to become active citizens at the local, state, and national levels.
Value and have a handle on the documents and ideals of our American heritage.
Make links between our own political, economic, and domestic policies and those of other countries in regards to acknowledging similarities and being able grasp the differences.
Comprehension of global history and its implications on political and foreign policies.
Have knowledge of vocabulary and logic that make up the area of social studies.
Convey verdicts through speaking, writing, listening, and other various assessments.
Evaluate one’s personal history while examining others with an open mind and Christian attitude
Take into account Romans 12:6-8; “We have different gifts, according to the grace given us… If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”
