The Living Word Music Department is building a tradition of music excellence. In the past couple of years our groups have performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, taken successful tours across the United States, played in area churches for worship, and led a grade school Honors Music Concert in the spring.
Living Word students experience a four-year curriculum designed to build superior musicianship, develop a true sense of ensemble and hone the life skills of self-confidence, performance and presentation that are transferable to any vocation. We offer opportunities for students at all levels of experience with ensembles that best fit the needs of our student musicians. In addition, Living Word students have received individual awards and recognitions in a number of areas including: Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and Washington County Youth Orchestra.
Living Word concerts are an extension of the classroom. All of our ensembles perform regularly throughout the school year. Highlights of last year included combined choral and instrumental groups Christmas concert and First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, release of the first A Cappella CD, A Cappella tour to Indiana and Ohio, Spring Concert in cooperation with grade school honors musicians, audition process for participation with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
The Music Program is designed to:
- Give glory and praise to God through song.
- Help you understand and experience the collaborative nature of group performance.
- Empower you to develop a life-long relationship with and passion for music, whether as a performer, creator or supporter.
- Inspire you with the example of the passion and dedication of the faculty and other students in the program.
- Be taken for four years, but a student may begin study in any year. There are opportunities from the introductory to the advanced level for additional studies. In addition, you are encouraged to compose and produce your own creations.
